Abstract

This work covers a brief review of the fundamentals and emphasizes the
purpose of Ethnobotany, making considerations about the preparation of
fieldwork, essential items to be taken to the field, as well as care and
procedures that facilitate the execution of the research, alerting to the
legal issues of access to information and the importance of community
involvement and participation. At the end, the two ‘golden rules of
Ethnobotany’ are presented. The text is the result of theoretical
knowledge and field experiences and observations of the authors,
seeking to provide practical suggestions that facilitate field research, as
well as alerting about possible attitudes that may compromise or make
the research unfeasible.
