ANALYSIS OF DENGUE IN CHILDREN IN SANTA CATARINA

Abstract

Dengue is a viral desease transmited by mosquitoes with demographically distribution in expantion and increasing incidence. Mostly cases, approximately 95%, occurs in children younger than 15 years old. It causes na spectrum os deseases since mild yellow fever to severe vascular permeability syndrome and is also potencially fatal. Perform a study of data about the incidence of dengue between 0 and 14 years os age, in the state of Santa Catarina, during the years of 2014 to 2022. This is na epidemiological study, descriptive and retrospective made by the Sistem of Information of Alarm Notification, available on datasus, between 2014 and 2022. Between 2014 and 2022 there were 15.095 cases on the analyzed age range. The gap of age with major incidence was between 10 and 14 years old, with 7.483 cases (49,57%). The age range that was least afected was the one with less than a year with 555 cases (3,68%). The period of time with bigger incidence was the year os 2022 with 9.785 (64,82%). Through this study is possible to observe the high incidency of dengue in the pediatric age range. This way is necessary an bigger action on the ways of prevention of the analyzed desease, as the control of the associated mosquito, through the combat of its foci, and bigger investment in vaccination to protection, maily in the pediatric age range that is the most targeted.
