Abstract

This study aimed to understand the relevance of art to the teaching and learning processes of people with visual impairments, from the perspective of CAP/CEBRAV teachers in Goiânia. In this sense, an exploratory research was developed, using questionnaires applied to teachers who work with students with visual impairments. The data obtained were analyzed in the light of the cultural-historical theory proposed by Vygotsky et al. As a result, we emphasize that the teaching of art adapted for people with visual impairment is of great importance, as it promotes the development of motor and spatial skills, in addition, it contributes to new/other significant learning processes, also favoring their holistic development as autonomous subject, inserted in a sociocultural context.
