Abstract

In discussions on deaf education, linguistic action is essential for language learning, since many deaf people arrive at school with writing and reading difficulties. The aim of this research was therefore to analyse difficulties relating to the language skills of deaf students and to explore the use of the internet as an empowering resource during writing and reading in Portuguese in Professional and Technological Education (EPT). A field study was carried out with Portuguese language teachers working in secondary education at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí (IFPI). The results highlighted the difficulties faced by these teachers in teaching Portuguese to deaf students and the use of the internet as a resource that enhances the search for knowledge during this teaching-learning process.
