Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze how Foucault reflects, in his work of the 1970s, the relationship between pleasure and power in the configurations of a biopolitics, of the politics implied in our own lives. We will see, therefore, how the practice of exercising power seems to be reinforced by the pleasure of its exercise to the extent that, in biopolitics, subjectivity becomes an effect and instrument of power not only through subjection, but above all through the pleasure of exercising power. After that, the extension of the relationship between pleasure and power in the notions of “necropolitics” and “pharmacopornography” will be problematized, through which Mbembe and Paul Preciado, respectively, resume the notion of biopolitics.
