About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Human Rights and Society Journal (RDHS) is a semiannual and continuous publication, resulting from the efforts of the Graduate Program in Law at the University of the Extreme South of Santa Catarina (UNESC).

The main objective of the Human Rights and Society Journal is to create an inclusive academic forum for the dissemination of original, unpublished scientific articles (both national and international), resulting from critical and interdisciplinary research on Human Rights and Society in its various dimensions.

Each article may have up to three authors, and at least one of them must hold a doctoral degree.

If deemed necessary by the Editorial Team, RDHS may publish international articles in other languages, provided they have exceptional academic value.

The Human Rights and Society Journal is published electronically in two continuous annual issues, following manuscript approval through a double-blind peer-review system.

Submission and Peer Review Process

RDHS operates on a semiannual basis with a continuous manuscript submission flow, including scientific works such as original articles, essays, dossiers, and lectures relevant to the specialization in human rights and society.

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online system: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/13V6Tn-nuui4tojisD0iNdC4h4kYPLaAZ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=108547648506212825169&rtpof=true&sd=true https://periodicos.unesc.net/ojs/index.php/dirhumanos/about/submissions]

An initial screening is conducted to verify compliance with the journal’s objective criteria, such as a minimum title, ABNT certification, originality, and proper completion of metadata by all authors.

After the initial review, the editorial team will preliminarily analyze the manuscripts (scope and standards) and decide whether to submit them for peer review by the editor-in-chief or refer them to invited ad hoc reviewers with extensive expertise in the manuscript's field.

Reviewers receive an invitation containing the title and abstract and evaluate the manuscript via the double-blind peer-review system.

Results will be: 'approved,' 'approved with suggested revisions,' or 'rejected.' In the event of differing evaluations, the responsible Editor will decide whether to approve or reject the article or may forward it to a third ad hoc reviewer.
