Abstract

In this work, a narrative bibliographical review was carried out that sought to map and analyze how recent science education research has been treating basic education training aimed at agency in a world with uncertain future prospects. Based on articles published in the last 10 years, this investigation was placed as a foundation for thinking about the participation of science teaching in directing education towards what can be conceived as an attempt to “postpone the end of the world”. The discussion was situated in debates in the field of Future Studies and Afrofuturism as potential influences for the construction of horizons for debate on the construction of futures. The results show the prominence of environmental issues and discourses from multilateral organizations, as well as calls to escape single narratives in the construction of images about the future as a way of resisting in the present.
