Abstract

The content of this study revolves around education and the defense of knowledge in school education in Mozambique, highlighting the social function of the school and the relevance of knowledge developed in the full intellectual formation and full humanization of man. One of the problems of education today has to do with the marginalization of school content and knowledge, the deviation from the social function of the school, educational practices, inequalities in access to elaborated knowledge, among others that contribute to school failure - Mozambique is not exception. In this way, we seek to rescue the contributions of historical-critical pedagogy, a theoretical conception of Marxist orientation, which defends the adequate transmission of school knowledge as a social function of the school. Thus, educational work must, through elaborated knowledge, meet the interests of the oppressed.
