Abstract

The object of study in this research is the formative notebooks from the Reading and Writing in Early Childhood Education (LEEI) collection, used in the National Commitment to Literate Children (CNCA) program by the Ministry of Education. The research question is: how do the LEEI notebooks support teacher training for the development of a reading attitude in early childhood education? Our objective is to reflect on the contributions of the LEEI formative collection to teachers in fostering children’s engagement with written culture. Data were generated through document analysis and analyzed in light of Historical-Cultural Theory. The results revealed that the organization of the material can contribute to teachers’ theoretical appropriation by expanding their own cultural repertoire, thus enabling them to organize pedagogical practices that promote a reading attitude in children.
