Celso Furtado e o espaço rural: uma revisão de literatura

O trabalho de Celso Furtado é primordialmente guiado à análise das características das economias subdesenvolvidas, sendo parte dessa análise centrada nos aspectos ligados ao espaço rural e seu processo de desenvolvimento histórico. O presente estudo objetiva fazer uma investigação sobre o pensamento de Celso Furtado acerca das questões que permeiam o espaço rural, a partir de revisão das principais obras que se referem ao assunto. Enfatiza-se sua tipologia das estruturas agrárias, bem como os principais tipos de produção agrícola que são ressaltados pelo autor. Além disso, encara-se como relevante a sua contribuição política para o espaço rural brasileiro, sinalizando que é necessário que se tenha uma distribuição mais equânime da terra. Inserem-se os conceitos trabalhados pelo autor no contexto da América Latina, e, mais profundamente, no Brasil. De maneira geral, esses espaços apresentam terras abundantes de acesso difícil, onde se organiza a agricultura de tipo comercial tradicional. Furtado aponta a predominância nesses espaços da concentração de terras, a qual desencadeia concentração de renda, colocando-se como uma barreira ao desenvolvimento.
