Challenges of the Care Economy: from recognizing social reproduction to the urgency of a new social contract

Abstract

This exploratory-descriptive research, conducted through a literature review, is based on the contributions of economist Minouche Shafik to demonstrate the need for a new social contract that guarantees, through public policies, the reduction of women's burden with social reproduction tasks as an effective way to address gender inequality; analyzing social dynamics and economic decisions that impact economic development in relation to care work.
