This manuscript attempts to make a summary of the System of Guarantees for Juvenile Rights, aiming at the formation of teachers who work at basic education. During the courses lectured by the authors, it was found an unfamiliarity about the doctrine and philosophy which govern the rights of Brazilian children and teenagers, as well as the role of the institutions and professionals which work at the promotion, defense and control of those rights. The schools’ function regarding the violation/promotion of juvenile rights is unquestionable, so the continuous formation of basic education’s teachers is essential to contemplate the socially alive questions of childhood and youth, and their fundamental rights. By using as starting point the History and Law’s reference literature, as well as related jurisprudence, reports from entities responsible for the promotion and defense of children and teenagers’ rights and other official sources, this work goes through the path of the System of Guarantees of Rights, summarizing the fundamental elements for the Human Rights’s instruction to children and teenagers, the sensitive questions, and the barriers to its diffusion in the Brazilian society in the 21st century’s first quarter.
